When we asked people about floating, we would consistently get the same feedback. Did they enjoy the float? Would they do it again? Did they feel better that night or the next day? The answers were overwhelmingly positive. If almost everyone that floated had a positive experience, why was it still a fringe practice? From our initial feedback, we routinely got one response, and since we knew these people, and many like them, would be our future customers, we listened. The answer, it seemed, was largely economic.
Herein lies the main issue we saw with floating in general. How could we expect large numbers of people to float when the pricing didn’t allow for it? Regardless of the benefits, how could we expect someone to pay upwards of or more than $1 per minute to lie in a body of water? We didn’t want price to be the reason that people can’t or don’t regularly float. By focusing more on a volume based approach, and not on how much we can charge per float, we are able to offer a great customer experience at prices that will allow customers to develop a regular floating practice. We think of it as ‘pricing that makes sense.’
With our superior quality, full-size tanks, flexible scheduling process, 30, 60, and 90 minute session length options, and affordable pricing and membership plans, we are on our way. We’re also committed to continuing to refine and improve, always keeping the customer and our mission in mind.
Over the past several years, the quality of float tanks has improved dramatically. We waited to enter the industry until we felt comfortable about the quality and size of the tanks we would use, and more importantly the company that manufactures them. Recent standards for filtration equipment and safety features have made this easier, by setting benchmarks for tank manufacturers. By providing more float space, easier entry into the tank, vastly improved ventilation, and top-notch filtration and safety features, our tanks provide customers with the highest quality experience, one that should become the norm in the industry.
We are particularly proud of the flexibility and simplicity of our online booking and scheduling experience. With a wide variety of potential customers, we didn’t want to limit when people could begin their float, and also wanted to offer multiple float duration options. Using our online scheduling functionality, powered by Booker, customers can easily choose and purchase 30, 60, or 90 minute sessions, and also have access to a wider range of session start times, enabling them to tailor the experience to their needs.
Also, as we consistently discuss, our affordable pricing and membership strategy provides for a logical solution to what we feel is the key problem with the industry. This long-term oriented strategy will allow Floatology and the industry to grow by enabling more people to float, not by seeing how much we can charge per float.
While numerous opportunities exist to pair floating with other products and services, our primary focus will continue to be accelerating the growth of floating for the masses at prices that make sense. By listening to the advice and input of our customers, we will assess the desire and feasibility of expanding outside of floating. We look forward to learning and growing with the help and input of our employees and customers.
